ILLUSTRATION

The imagination is our greatest gift, so I feel very fortunate to have been able to tell stories, write, draw and paint since childhood.

My early art tools were pencils, watercolor, sable brushes, pen and ink. But when digital paint and Wacom tablets arrived it was transformative. You can never undo real water color if you make a mistake, but with digital paint you absolutely can, and without any limit. It's very freeing.

The illustrations of my son and the family cat "Mr Smudge" on this page were done entirely the pre-digital way, with 2B sepia pencil, paint sprayed on with a tooth brush, then touched up with a sepia ink lines and a Windsor & Newton sable brush to paint in the highlights .
